The bird's flu has spread among a new kind of mammals
Image for The bird's flu has spread among a new kind of mammals The virus of bird's flu H5N1 has been found in the blood of the marten in Germany. Thus, virus fatally dangerous for a human has spread among a new kind of mammals.

The sick marten was found on March, 2 on the island Rjugen where at the beginning of February one of the first flashes of the bird's flu has been registered among birds of passage on territory of Europe.

The analyses which have been carried out in the laboratory of the Friedrich Loeffler institute have shown the presence of virus H5N1 in blood of the animal. After the virus had been found the marten was exterminated by veterinaries.

Earlier on the island Rjugen domestic cats infected with bird's flu were found. Presumably, they caught the flu having eaten the died birds. The case of infection by the bird's flu among cats has been registered in Austria as well.

"Spreading of the infection among a new kind of mammals is not unexpected so as cats and martens have a similar spectrum of feeding", - it was marked in the official statement of Minister of Agriculture of the land Mecklenburg - Vorpommern Till Backhaus.
