Risk of bird flu spreading between humans
|
British Government issued a report that H5N1 strain of bird flu is not very likely to spread to humans. This report was issued shortly after dead sawn was found dead in Scotland and was tested positive for bird flu virus. Britain is very much concerned about spread of disease in country, but tries to play down major threat as minimal.
TV news broadcasted: "The pandemic flu that we are now talking about would be in the human population. It is not in the human population at the moment." They also said the UK government is doing everything to stop spread of virus in Britain but even if virus hits domestic/wild birds; impact to humans will be minimal.
Later on it was reported that dead swan had very similar strain of H5N1 virus to the one discovered in dead birds across Ruegen (German Island)
Meanwhile, several countries including Malaysia announced it was banning birds and eggs imports from UK.
